Another eclectic evening awaits ..... The Notes, are an Essex via Southampton band who infuse the best bits of C86-y sounds with a dark, literature rich lyrical content. 'Their sound is dark and sweet, like liquorish and just the right side of ethereal. Its all underpinned with rhythms tight as drum skins and spiked with noirishly sweet vocals' (Brill Dream) They only formed in March 2010 and have had the single ‘Those Days, Those Nights’ on indie pop label Holiday Records, and positive reviews of this single were featured in many internet blogs. They supported the marvellous Stereo Total in London recently and have been headlining gigs in the city. They have also performed at an art centre in Madrid, and they have upcoming shows in London and France. Hey, these lovely people are offering a free download of their latest EP. Get it here. It's sublime. |

thefancydressparty are a mixed bunch, hailing from South Woodham Ferrers, who create a 'folk and roll' noise about travels and adventures around their beloved homeland. The band consists of 6 friends, in what seems to be an ever-expanding project. With an assortment of instruments, live performances see ukulele and mandolin share a stage with glockenspiels, strings, and keyboard, along with a basket full of percussion to boot. They also like their name to be written completely joint-up in lower case. This rarely happens, but when it does it makes them very happy! Their debut single 'Grandfather' is available from 23 August on Sweet Release Records (a brand new singles label that releases 200 hand numbered limited 7" vinyl only). Grab it while you can from here. |
