bitterscene
is an 'indie'pendent club night which usually takes place on the last Wednesday of the month in the Bassment Club, Chelmsford.
Our dj's play
classic & new 'real' indie tunes, C86/Sarah, french pop / bubblegum / northern soul / 60's beats & garage, and a splash of punk. We've been at it since 2001 and have had some excellent bands play for us during that time, including: Vic Godard & Subway Sect, The Broken Family Band, The Long Blondes, Holly Golightly .... check out our live archive. bitterscene is also an indie record label. The second single by The Brights is currently available for mail order and now by download. Go to our label page to find out more. |

Playing their own take on swooning indie pop, MONO TAXI are an Anglo-French outfit whose songs fizz with the same warmth and humanity as bands such as Drugstore, Joy Zipper and Helium 'This gang mash-up the best bits of Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine and Pixies into an exceptional slab of Euro-indie." The Fly. "The delicately cool sound of Bardot et Serge, after they've ditched their pedalo and discovered power chords." NME. "The type of band who demand your attention at all times...they switch from ballsy, angular, stutter-punk to poignant melody via tumultuous power chord thrash like their lives depended on it." DROWNED IN SOUND. Imagine The Stooges doing power pop..." WHISPERIN & HOLLERIN.
